If your Apolosign Calendar's screen saver does not appear, starts at the wrong time, or leaves the screen black, the cause is almost always the password / screen lock setting. Work through the two scenarios below before contacting support.
1. The screen saver never starts
The screen saver will only activate if the device does not have a password or screen lock enabled (except when using Google Photos as the source).
- What you'll see: You set up the screen saver, the scheduled time arrives, but nothing happens.
- How to fix: Either disable the password/screen lock (set it to None), or switch the screen saver source to Google Photos (the only source that works together with a screen lock).
2. Screen stays black after an automatic startup
If a "Sleep Mode" schedule is active, the device powers on automatically on schedule and then the screen goes dark. This happens because a password or screen lock is enabled — the device cannot start the screen saver, so it stays at a black screen. This is expected behavior, not a malfunction.
- What you'll see: The device turns on by itself on schedule, but the screen stays black.
- How to wake the device: Long-press the Power Button to wake it up and unlock.
- How to keep the screen on after an automatic startup: Set the password to None (disable the screen lock). The screen will then stay on as scheduled — and the screen saver will also start normally, as described in Section 1.
3. Google Photos — video files are not supported
When using Google Photos as your screen saver source, please note that video files are not supported.
- What you'll see: Photos play in the slideshow, but videos in the album are skipped.
- How to fix: Use photos only in your Google Photos album, or choose a different screen saver source for video content.
Quick checklist before contacting support
- Is a password or screen lock enabled? → Set the password to None (or use Google Photos as the screen saver source).
- Does the screen stay black after an automatic startup? → Long-press the Power Button to wake, or disable the screen lock to keep the screen always on.
- Are you expecting videos from Google Photos? → Videos are not supported; use photos instead.
If you have checked all the items above and the screen saver still does not work, please contact us at support@apolosign.com with your device model and a short description of what happens.
