With the release of Calendar 2.0, you might notice a shift in how event colors are displayed. This article explains the new color logic, how it compares to the previous version, and how you can set up your calendars to best fit your family's routine.
Understanding the Color Logic Change
Calendar 2.0 (New Logic): The background color is determined by the participant's assigned color, while the highlight color represents your custom color (or the custom color chosen when importing an external calendar).
Previous Version (Old Logic): The background color used the synced calendar color with no highlight color, and it supported setting custom colors for individual events directly.
Core Difference: The new system organizes colors primarily by participant-dimension, whereas the older version operated by calendar-dimension.
How to Set Up Your Preferred View
Depending on how you prefer to organize your schedule, you can adjust your settings using the following methods:
Option A: If you prefer to distinguish events by different calendars
Go to your settings and assign the correct participants to your different calendars.
Adjust the individual participant colors, or add sub-accounts and set individual colors for them, so they match your preferred calendar categories.
Option B: If you prefer to distinguish events by family members
Assign specific events or entire calendars directly to the respective family member.
Customize the participant colors to be distinct and easy-to-read at a glance.
Looking Ahead
We appreciate your feedback regarding these layout and color changes. Our R&D team is actively working on an upcoming toggle feature that will give you the flexibility to choose whether your event backgrounds use the calendar color or the participant color. Stay tuned for future updates!
