If the remote navigates the home screen fine but stops working once you open an app like Netflix or YouTube, this is not a defect of your unit.
Why it happens
The Apolosign Portable TV is designed as a large-format Android tablet rather than a traditional TV. Because it runs on a mobile-based Android system, some apps — Netflix in particular — are optimized for touch input rather than remote navigation. This is a common characteristic of portable Android displays, not a fault of your specific device.
What works better
- Use the touchscreen. Since the device works like a large tablet, tapping directly is the smoothest way to navigate apps like Netflix or YouTube.
- Connect a mouse or keyboard. A wireless mouse or keyboard can be connected via USB or Bluetooth, and usually gives much better control inside mobile-style apps.
- Use the app's on-screen controls. When the remote's directional buttons don't respond inside an app, the on-screen buttons in the app itself usually still work.
Important: this is different from a pairing problem
If the remote doesn't respond anywhere — including the home screen — the remote may simply need to be re-paired. See: Remote Control Connection: Pairing Issues (https://support.apolosign.com/hc/en-us/articles/54745084853401-Remote-Control-Connection-Pairing-Issues)
